Dear Parents/Guardians: We want to hear about your experience with your student’s education. We invite you to participate in completing the Utah School Climate Survey. This survey includes questions about your student’s learning, school safety, and interpersonal relationships, as well as your attitudes about the institutional environment and your personal involvement in school. Your responses will be very helpful in improving student relationships, learning conditions, and the overall school environment. Beginning today, April 24, 2023, we invite all parents, guardians, and caretakers to complete this survey for our school. The survey is completely anonymous; it contains 33 questions. You can take the survey online by using the following unique school link: SURVEY LINK. Please submit your responses by May 5th. All your responses are completely anonymous. We have no way to connect you to your answers, and results will only be reported as group responses. There are no right or wrong answers. We just want to know about your personal experiences. Responses are housed securely in an anonymous format with The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) for evaluation research purposes. All evaluation research projects are in compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, (343 CFR 99.31 (6)) and human subjects regulations (Protection of Human Subjects 45 CFR 46). As you respond to each item, think about your own personal experiences as a parent, caregiver, or guardian at your student’s school. Please answer all of the questions. When you have completed the survey, click on the “Next” button at the bottom of the page. You are done! Thank you for your time and opinions. We hope you will take the time to provide us with this valuable information. Each school’s total survey results will be used to inform and develop appropriate strategies, procedures, and/or programs to enhance our school climate. The link to complete the survey is https://sanjuandistrict.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6ES1VyWxH3oeYui Thank you for your time and participation!

Attention Parents, Students, and Stakeholders, In an abundance of caution and concern for staff and student safety, San Juan School District is designating a “Late Start” on Wednesday, March 1st for all schools in the district (This includes MHS). A “Late Start” means schools will begin at 10AM for all students. For bus students, all buses will arrive 2 hours later than the regularly scheduled time. The storm is forecasted to be in the county for multiple days, so we strongly encourage all stakeholders to frequently monitor the school/district webpage and App for any updates as things progress. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Parents please be aware that the window to provide input into what fees will be charged in our secondary schools has opened. State Law requires every fee that a parent might be charged in our secondary schools to be approved by the District Board of Education after the public has had two opportunities to provide input. No fees can be charged in elementary schools. Secondary school fees for the upcoming school year must be approved by April 1st of the preceding year. On our January board agenda, one can find the spend plans and Program Sustainability Fee Schedule. (cut and paste link below) Spend plans are intended to let parents know the maximum that could be charged if their child participates in a sport or activity. Give them a look. Contact your local school administrator or school board member if you have questions or would like to provide input. We value your input! https://go.boarddocs.com/ut/sjsd/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#tab-meetings

MHS Parent Connections Night
Dear Parent(s) and Stakeholders, The San Juan School District Board of Education members are seeking information to help best serve its patrons. As a consequence of the Covid19 Pandemic, it was necessary to suspend the practice of rotating board meeting locations from school to school within the county and hold them in one location (the Boardroom at the District Office in Blanding) and broadcast them virtually to parents and stakeholders. A modern, efficient broadcast system has been purchased and installed in the Board Room in the District Office in Blanding. This system was purchased using ESSER Care funds to help facilitate effective public participation into the virtual board meetings. A rise in participation of patrons resulted. In the past five months, the lowest number of viewers has been 60 with the highest being over a 100. These numbers are substantially higher than participation numbers in meetings prior to the Pandemic. Now with the Pandemic subsiding to some degree, the Board of Education is seeking some input regarding the best way to provide stakeholder access to board meetings in the future. Should board meetings return to a rotation of in-person meetings at schools where broadcasting effectiveness is less than ideal due to many factors, or should board meetings remain in the Board Room in Blanding and be broadcasted virtually to patrons utilizing the modern, effective system? The Board of Education is asking you to provide your input into the decision by completing the attached survey. Thank you so much for your valuable time.
