Several cases of head lice are reported each school year.  BES staff does all that they can to prevent the spread of lice.  If there is a possibility that a student has lice, we will follow these procedures.

• The school nurse or office staff will check the student to confirm that there is lice.  

• If there is lice, we will call home and send the student home.

• We will provide information to parents that will give directions to get rid of the lice.

• After a student has used the special shampoo and combed their hair very carefully they can come back to school to be inspected by school staff, and once cleared they are allowed to return to the classroom.
